Amid road safety concerns, government makes airbag, speed alert, parking sensor must in cars

The union road transport ministry has approved a proposal to will make it compulsory for all car manufacturers to equip their cars with airbags, seat-belt reminders, alert systems for speeds beyond 80kmph, reverse parking alerts, as well as manual override over the central locking system for emergencies after July 1, 2019.

The move was approved to offer better passenger as well as pedestrian safety on India's roads as thousands of alone accounted for nearly 74,000 of the 1.51 lakh deaths in road accidents.

For the time being only luxury cars offers these kinds of crucial safety features thus getting the same implemented in all cars will make have an impact on the price, however it will be interesting to see if government offer subsidy for OEMs to obtain such products to minimize the cost impact.

All the new cars will have an audio warning feature who will give an alarm when the car crosses a speed of 80 Kmph, a more audible & serious alarm when it crosses 100 kmph and a non-stop alarm when the vehicle crosses 12 kmph.

Talking about the manual override system, it will ensure easy exit of passenger in case of an accident when due to electric power failure the central locking becomes non-functional and traps a passenger inside his car.

In order to reduce the possible accidents while parking in back gear, all cars will be fitted with parking sensors which will alert the driver if there are objects in the rear monitoring range.

All the above safety features will surely offer a safe and sound drive, however it will be interesting to see the kind of cost impact it would have on car price. In case of a major impact, new and first time car buyers may shift their preference towards buying a pre-owned car.

Let’s wait and see how this new move results in. However if you are looking for buying a pre-owned car than head straight over to Shriram Automall, the company offers best in class range of pre-owned cars of all makes and models to choose from under one roof.

CHEERS TO A SIMPLE & ROADSTER LIFE ON A PRE-OWNED BIKE

The word ‘Roadster’ rings the right bells in my head, where I imagine myself riding on a bike on a long road with scenic views of nature. After I completed my studies and decided to enter a job I knew my roadster life is about to begin. However, as I just started to work I was not having enough money to buy a new bike and as I also wanted to show my family that I have become independent I decided to go for a pre-owned bike.

The time I made my decision, I knew that I need a bike that is a looker, gives good mileage and roars fast in short, a bike that turn heads. But the main confusion was – where should I buy a used bike complete trust and transparency. Here is when one of my friend suggested Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL) from where he purchased a pre-owned car.

I am very glad that he suggested SAMIL to me, as I reside in Delhi; I decided to visit their Manesar Automall, which is about 40 Kms from my home. As I entered the Automall, I was thrown at a number of pre-owned vehicles & equipment lined up in an organized manner.

I did not wasted any time and headed straight to the line-up of pre-owned bikes, the inventory was vast and I could find bikes of all major brands. The bike that caught my attention was a pre-owned Royal Enfield Bullet, it was in a good condition and after a thorough inspection I decided to participate in their physical bidding event.

I paid the RSD amount of Rs. 20,000 to get the bidder book and I took a seat in the bidding hall. I was amused to see all vehicles ramped on the ramp and got sold one by one. I patiently waited for the bike and made sure to keep my bid high to win it.

After a good competition I emerged as the winner, now in another 7 days I need to pay the rest of the amount and take delivery. Employees at SAMIL also suggested that I can get the bike financed through STFC which is indeed a good option.

I must say I am really happy to be a customer of SAMIL, I bought the pre-owned bike I was looking forward to and at a price I am really happy.

ABS, Airbags to be obligatory in India from April’2019

Fatal crash rates in India, is highest in the world and part of this stems from car makers, producing vehicles without safety features for money conscious buyers.

Safety features like ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and airbags are mostly associated with premium cars in the price conscious automobile industry. People often tend to overlook these features in a verge to save some money on the car they buy. However the ministry of road transport & highway issued an official statement, making it mandatory. This move is fundamentally aimed to make Indian cars fit with all the safety parameters kept in mind.

In fiscal year (2015-16) Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) made the anti-lock braking system (ABS) mandatory for commercial vehicles (CVs), which was indeed an important step leading to road safety on Indian Roads. ABS turned up to be quite beneficial feature for especially for wide range of heavy CV’s which were prone to skid & wheels likely to lock more often.

ABS is a feature which uses wheel speed sensors to determine if one or more wheels are trying to lock up during braking. If a wheel tries to lock up, a series of hydraulic valves limit or reduce the braking on that wheel. This prevents skidding and allows you to maintain steering control which makes it an efficient & essential feature which must be installed in every vehicle especially with the growing number of raging young drivers.

Government is playing its crucial role in making road ways safer by implementing foremost measures for road safety. Though according to government’s rough estimate, including both airbags & ABS will increase 10% to the cost of the base model.

Life is a one way road, where you can look back but can’t go back, so it’s better to go safe than cheap!

Keeping this in mind government is also planning to set up its own safety authority i.e. Bharat National Car Assessment Programme (NCAP), which will rate vehicles based on their safety. India will also have a rating system for cars based on their fuel efficiency. (MoRTH) have set October’2017 as a deadline for all the new models to come to pass the minimum frontal and car crash test along with pedestrian protection tests.

All these measures which government is taking show their objective of better and safe tomorrow with vehicle compliant with all future regulations.

Mr. Sameer Malhotra (CEO, Shriram Automall) shared his views “I am glad to see that government is taking all the essential steps in an organized manner betterment of roadways in India, while keeping in mind the worth of driver’s life. Installation of these features will also increase the life and road value of vehicles.  Being the no.1 provider of used automotive in India, I look forward to follow these while playing my part for better tomorrow with safety on board.”

SAMIL while playing its part & following government rules has an inventory full of used CV’s that came in fiscal year (2015-2016) with ABS compulsorily installed at the time of manufacturing only. So if you’re looking forward to acquire used vehicles compatible with new coming rules, your nearby Automall is the right place to go.

INDIA ABOUT TO SKIP THE STEPWISE UP GRADATION OF “BS EMISSION NORMS”

Indian Government due to the increasing amount of pollution in the country instituted emission standards in 2000 known as “Bharat stage emission standards”. Progressively stringent norms have been rolled out since then. After the implementation of these norms every vehicle in the county manufactured has to be compliant with the regulations including motor vehicles.

Time & again, these emission standards upgraded. Bharat Stage (BS-III) norms were enforced across the country, in October’2010 & since then it is followed across the country. Under these norms, each stage specifies a certain limit on the pollutants released, which is controlled by the type of fuel made by the oil companies and the up gradations and modifications made by the auto firms to their vehicles to control the pollutants released from the vehicle.

All of the northern India has been using BS-IV relevant diesel & petrol from quiet long now. But in southern India, BS-IV fuel availability was made sure in 2016, which leads to supply of BS-IV fuel in Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Odisha, Union Territories of Daman and Diu, Dadra-Nagar-Haveli and Andaman & Nicobar. Now, the government is focused to supply the BS-IV fuel to the rest of the country by 1 April’2017. With this country wide implementation of BS-IV, allowance on registration of BS-III applicable vehicles in the country is on hook & yet not decided.

With always increasing amount of air pollution in the country has now decided not to follow the stepwise up gradation norm strategy i.e. From BS-II to BS-III & then to BS-IV as now the Oil Ministry, is looking forward to considering the proposal of switching BS-IV to BS-VI auto fuels directly, thereby skipping BS-V by 1 April’2020.

Although initial plan included up gradation of the norms to BS-V by 1 April’2020, as skipping an entire stage of emission norms will put a lot of pressure on the auto firms and even the oil companies, which have supported skipping of BS-V stage.

As under BS-V emission norms, vehicles have to be fitted with a diesel particulate filter, which needs to be optimized according to Indian road conditions, whereas under stage VI, selective catalytic reduction technology has to be optimized, where at each stage, the technology would be validated over 6lakh to 7lakh km. Given the complexity of the process, direct up gradation from BS-IV to BS-VI is going to be quite difficult, though Indian oil companies had told the government that they would be in a position to make BS-VI fuel ready by 2020 .

According to a PTI report, oil refineries will need huge amount of investment for up gradation of these norms, as over Rs 80,000crore was needed to upgrade BS-IV TO BS-V, and for direct up gradation to BS-VI, oil refineries might need more.

2017 SET TO BECOME A BENCHMARK FOR TRACTOR SALES

The India Tractor Market is all set to witness a double digit growth of 16-18% in FY 2017 says CRISIL. However the growth in February & March to only be in single digit number as farmers still cope with the note ban and shifting towards using digital payment modes.

The sales were revived as the south-west monsoon came in normal. Rains were 97% of the long-period average, timely and well-distributed, resulting in Kharif production increasing 10% on-year (according to second advance estimates), and Rabi sowing also 5.7% higher on account of sufficient reservoir levels.

Farmers had a good sowing season, however due to the demonetization effect sales in November took a toll with de-growth of 13% in November, a modest growth of 7% in December and 5% in January. However the impact is expected to be short-term and sales should recover by the first quarter of 2017-18.

With faster acceptance of non-cash transactions in the states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, going forward demand for tractors is projected to see healthy growth.  Tractor sales would also benefit from favorable budget announcements such as record farm credit disbursal of Rs 10 lakh crore and other rural development initiatives.

Based on this, we see tractor volumes picking up in coming quarters, though, for lack of a low base as was the case this year, fiscal 2018 could close with a relatively sober growth of 8-10%.

If you are interested in buying pre-owned tractors than Shriram Automall is the right place to be at. The company offers widest range of used tractors & other farm equipment at optimal price to choose from.

You can also download its ‘MySAMIL Mobile Application’ to view upcoming events, inventories & even place live bid on the vehicles & equipment you are interested in.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN DISPOSE YOUR PRE-OWNED CAR ONLINE

Planning to dispose off your pre-owned car online? In this age of digital era, selling your pre-owned car through the local newspaper classified will take a lot of time. Newspaper Classified listings are designed to merely present inventory to shoppers and only last for a day or two. Consequently, the listings have less information to revel the car details and the interested customer has to call to make an appointment and see the vehicle. An online listing, on the other hand, is transactional and user can upload detailed information along with good photographs of the pre-owned car. Online sellers have the potential of reaching a larger market than local classifieds.

Here are the key points to guide you for trading online easily:

Do your Homework

While trading your car online, there is nothing more valuable than knowledge. Here are few things you should know about the car you are disposing:

·        Year/Make/Model/VIN/Factory Paint Color Code/Date of Manufacture
·        What are the common issues for this particular car? Have they been addressed?
·       How large is the displacement of the engine? On average, how many miles per liter does  the car return combined?
·         What is the average selling price for a car in this condition?

There are innumerable information hubs available from where you can easily learn about your car and other related information or you can just hire a mechanic.

Detail the Car

One of the first things that buyers notice is the condition of the car. Detailing a car is an art, but it need not be an expensive one. You'd likely be fine giving the car a cheap hand wash locally, but detailing allows you to virtually polish money into the finish of the car.

Take as many detailed pictures as possible

Pictures speak a thousand words and even before looking at the information what a buyer is interested in is looking at the cars photos. Make sure to take as many high-resolution pictures as possible. Modern point-and-shoot cameras have great dynamic range and amazing quality. Don’t use your mobile phones to take pictures with cell phone cameras, as their lenses leave a lot to be desired, and have a tendency of compressing images and decreasing quality.

Be Easy To Reach

Always include your contact details, preferably your mobile number after uploading a classified as it will give buyers a point of contact for more information. It's insanely frustrating to see a good deal, but the seller only has email as a viable means of contact.

Don't Buckle On the Price

If you own a good car which is desirable, you will definitely get a lot of buyers and most of these buyers will ask a good discount. Don’t get bullied by these buyers, keep in your mind the price you wish to sell you car. It's important that you choose a price that's realistic, based on market value. If your price is negotiable, inflate it by 10 percent, with a "Best Offer" option. That way the buyer feels like they saved some money and the seller gets the most that they can for their car.

Looking to dispose your pre-owned car online but confused which portal to try? Connect with Shriram Automall India Limited and access to their online bidding platform, from where you can easily dispose your used cars and SUV’s. Online Car Bidding is a unique feature that is available with SAMIL and attracts customers due to the transparent approach acquired by SAMIL. You can also acquire used commercial vehicles and equipment from SAMIL’s physical bidding platform.

Used Car Financing in India

What if you want to own a second hand vehicle but don’t have enough resources, so what are your options? Simple you can finance your vehicle, but is do you know everything about second hand car loans and finance.

It is always recommended to polish your skills on used vehicles and then go for the new ones – the saying is finding an apt application in car segment of India today. Most of new drivers prefer to opt for pre-owned vehicles before investing huge money in new one. Though, acquiring financial help for used cars is nothing less than headache at present. There are 2 factors that play a vital role in pre-owned car loans to be precise its age & the model. Also, the bearer is needed to pay a hefty cost for used car as compared to new car. In India, people availing pre-ownedcar financing options have to pay 3% more than the amount they are required to pay for latest cars. And, lastly, there is more chance that you may not get the complete value of the car as loan.

As per norms, used car loan is granted only when age of the car and loan’s tenure do not go beyond 7 years in combined manner. Thus, if you are planning to get loan for 5 years, the age of your vehicle should not exceed two years in any condition. If you need a loan for 3 years, than the age must not exceed 4 years and the same is applicable for lesser years.

For used financing in India, there are two types of financial bodies available that can help you in this cause: banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFC’s).
You can benefit by connecting with Organised Dealer
These days you have enormous options available in market for you to choose from among the second-hand cars. And along with the car many options of organised dealers are also available. These dealers source the cars, & put them up for sale.
Moreover most of the banks & NBFCs are at ease while financing a car through an organised dealer because of the due careful checks done by the dealer, which reduces the financiers' risk.

What we suggest you today is to connect with Shriram Automall, which solves both of your problem. Shriram Automall India Limited is the leading service provider in used vehicle industry and provides services from Parking to disposal, from acquisition to finance and Insurance Services. Being a wholly subsidiary of Shriram Transport Finance Company, Shriram Automall is providing customers with all the integrated services to serve them with the best of services for used vehicles. DRIVING IN FOG? HERE ARE SOME CAUTIONS TO TAKE

Winters are finally here and it has already made us think twice before getting out of the bed from the cozy quilt and go to work. With work we remember driving a car. There are some days in winters where most part of the country are fogged up and makes driving difficult. Here we bring you some tips on how to drive better on a foggy winter morning.

Mist is a common problem on a winter morning, to tackle this most of us runs dry wipers to clean it. Don’t do this; instead run the wipers with fluid for better car hygiene and cleanliness.

As there is difference between the temperature outside and in your car, your windows will easily fog up and minimize visibility. Hence to clear the fog, use the front and rear defogger and switch the AC.
While sitting make sure you adjust your seat to the highest level for a clear view and keep your eyes fixed on the road.

You are advised not to drive in HIGH BEAM as it will reduce the visibility in fog and may even give you illusion of white wall. However your headlight and fog lamp will come in handy.

You will drive better if you follow the white lines on the road and by keeping the Google map in your hand for a better road idea. Bigger vehicles emit more heat and therefore tend to disperse more amount of fog around, so it is a good idea to drive behind a truck or a bus in foggy conditions, but don't forget to maintain appropriate distance.

Above tips to drive better on a foggy winter morning brought to you by Shriram Automall – India’s Largest Service Provider for Exchange of Used Vehicles & Equipment.

Construction Equipment Industry- A Positive Transformation on the Roll

Although, the past three years have primarily witnessed a continuing slow down for the Indian construction equipment industry, the situation seems to be on a complete transformation drive now. With the focus of the new government shifting towards increased investment in the development of infrastructure in the country, the construction equipment industry witnesses a corresponding thrust in its sale figures this year. Several stuck-up projects from earlier are now being given a green flag along with some favorable initiatives being taken in terms of refinement of the old confining policies.

As per media reports, the first five month period of the year has brought about the good times back for the industry, which has greatly contributed in enhancing the positive sentiment back in the market. The pre-owned construction equipment in particular is too on a rise with the new positive developments in the infrastructure industry. The heightened numbers in terms of infrastructure building has led to the construction business owners reviving their interest in varied used construction equipments for all their requirements. Construction equipments not only make the process easier, quicker and systematized, but also reduce the cost as well as the uncertainty which comes in from dependability on human resources.

As these equipments are heavy and are available in varied types for different functions required to be executed for different projects, there is a growing popularity of the second hand construction machinery in the country for it is much more affordable as compared to the new one. We see a drastic change in the people’s perception with regard to new v/s pre-owned. Individuals as well as businesses both are far more realistic and practical these days as opposed to a few years back when the thought of pre-owned was looked down upon and was merely the cup of tea of the less privileged ones. And with the new Government reforms in infrastructure boosting the economy, the market is all set to boom and transform from its state of slump from past three years.

In case you or an acquaintance is on the lookout for purchasing any of the usedconstruction equipments and vehicles, you have come to the right place. Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL) pioneers as an established service provider in the field. Contact today to get the best deals at the most trustworthy and structured platforms.

500 & 1000 Rupee Note Cancelled- Managing the unexpected declaration

The latest declaration made by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, regarding the cancellation of 500 & 1000 rupee notes has taken all by surprise. Though, the action is targeted towards resolving the critical issue of black money and for the betterment of our economy, it is also posing some obstacles to the common people and businesses.

As per the RBI guidelines, Shriram Automall will not be accepting  500 & 1000 rupee current denomination old notes with effect from November 09, 2016 for any cash dealings within the Automall or otherwise for any purposes. Owing to this, all cash dealings at the bidding events being held at different locations around the country were affected to a great extent, where the non-acceptance of the 500 & 1000 rupee notes and the limited valid denomination available both led to disruption in the flow of registration and bidding activities.

It made it difficult for the Automall managers to handle the crowd coming to them with now old currency notes and approaching for purchase. They had to refuse many, leading to slowed down transactions and also, disappointment to the customers. Though, we made a provision for accepting cheque in place of cash for a certain amount of money for our prime customers who have been regular and loyal to us for years.

The team at Shriram always puts in its best efforts to ensure that the current situation should not let its customers being affected to the maximum extent possible.  The company regards its customers with utmost priority and thus, its quick and easy alternatives came into handy play to enable instant access through online transactions by using SAMIL mobile application and website payment gateway as well as via card transactions. SAMIL executives too are working hard in their own capacity towards ensuring an unhindered dealing, providing complete support at every step and educating those in particular who are technically at the back front so as to enjoy a hassle-free experience at all our Automalls.

Used Motor Graders at Shriram Automall

Construction equipments act as backbone in case of huge construction projects. Proper use of construction equipments contributes to economy, quality, safety, speed and timely completion of a project. Almost 15-30% of total construction cost is accounted towards equipment and machinery. Construction equipments increase the rate of production and eliminate heavy manual work to ensure work is completed on time.

Using Construction Equipments have now become the most important part of construction projects and thus it is essential to have knowledge about different construction equipments commonly used in the industry.

MOTOR GRADER

Motor Graders, which are one of important equipments and used in maintenance and construction of roads are also referred as road grader, a blade, a maintainer or a grader. It is a construction machine with a long blade used to create a flat surface during the grading process. A variety of attachments turn the motor grader into a more versatile machine, enabling the machine to do things such as dig shallow holes. Typical models have three axles, with the engine and cab situated above the rear axles at one end of the vehicle and a third axle at the front end of the vehicle, with the blade in between.

Uses
·         The grader is used for road maintenance in flattening surfaces before application of asphalt.
·         In civil engineering, motor grader's purpose is to "finish grade" (to refine or set precisely).

·         These machines are used for fine grading, spreading and earth moving along with their use for clearing debris and brush as well as snow removal.

·         Used for grading and finishing the upper surface of earthen formations and embankments usually operated in forward directions.

·         Certain graders can operate multiple attachments, or be used for separate tasks like underground mining.

·         Graders are also used to set native soil foundation pads to finish grade prior to the construction of large buildings. Graders can produce inclined surfaces, to give cant (camber) to roads.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           You may also Read : It's the constructive world of  Pre - Owned Construction Equipment Industry
