Indian Automobile Industry expected to grow fourfold, thanks to the Automobile scrapping policy

As the country is waking up for an environmental concern of air pollution, the government proposed a car scrapping policy under which any vehicle of 10 years and above can be scrapped with some benefits offered to buy a new car. Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways believes that the new incentive policy has a potential that could even quadruple the turnover of the automobile industry.

”We will put the vehicle scrapping policy on a website within a week to seek suggestions and based on that we will seek Finance Ministry's approval. Once approved, it will be sent for the Cabinet nod,” Gadkari told PTI in an interview.

The incentive scheme will feature an excise rebate of 50% on new vehicle purchase, additionally respecting the demand from the government the automobile industry will also be offering additional benefits over and above the government incentives like discount on purchase of new vehicle if a person provides the certificate of scrapping to the dealer.

The government is also considering a financial incentive of up to Rs 1.5 lakh on surrender of vehicles that are over 10 years old to check pollution and address safety concerns.

Small vehicles will be offered an incentive of up to Rs 30,000 for those surrendering small vehicles while trucks could be in for total benefits worth Rs 1.5 lakh.

This new move is intended to enable the entry of cleaner vehicles on the roads that emits less pollution when compared to the old ones. Also the move when implemented will also increase the demand for new vehicles all around the country as large number of people will opt to change their old car amid the incentives they will be getting.

While the policy will take some time to get fully implemented meanwhile sell your used vehicles at Shriram Automall anywhere in India. The company follows an easy process to buy or sell used vehicles in India through their transparent bidding platforms.

Indian cars failing crash test; who would take the blame?

Indian cars have always been in news for offering poor safety measures and when we come across the reports of cars going under a crash test by the New Car Assessment Program, we tend to worry as we now know what the result will be.

After the circulation of these reports begin the blame game & whom to point fingers at. We have three main players who play a key role in deciding upon the standards of Indian cars.

The Manufacturers
It’s almost certain that the first people we will point fingers at will be the manufacturers themselves as they are the ones who sell unsafe cars to us. In the latest crash test we had three versions of the Renault Kwid, Mahindra Scorpio, Hyundai Eon, Maruti Eeco and Maruti Celerio. As per reports all these seven cars have an unstable body and zero capacity to stand a situation of accident.
As Indian car buyers are extremely price conscious they tend to buy a car which is cheap in price, that’s why manufacturers in order to reduce their cost use cost effective material which may be subsidized on security measures.

The Government
The fact is not unknown that the car safety norms in India have not kept pace with the changing times & technologies. Now the government is all set to introduce the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) which will make India’s car safety more stringent.
As the road network is expanding & quality is checked, the cars launching today are capable of reaching very high speed which on the other hand can be lethal.
Government needs to ensure that the basic safety features are installed in all models making the buyers safe.

The Car Buyer
Ultimately it is the car buyer who decides to buy a car with high price value or not. The question here is a matter of life & death and we cannot put a price on life. Buyers need to pay extra attention to the safety features while buying a new car, this will give manufactures the required confidence in making good cars with added safety measures. Make the right choice, spending little more on safety will only help you in the years to come.

“While price is an important factor before making a purchase decision for all Indian buyers, we must never forget that spending a bit extra on safety measures will only save you and your loved ones” Sameer Malhotra, CEO Shriram Automall

Meanwhile if you are looking to buy a used car anywhere in India you can visit Shriram Automall, the company offers widest range of used vehicles of all make & models under single roof.

New Key Technologies in the Small Commercial Vehicle Segment

Now days we see truck buyers focus on more technologically advanced trucks to increase their productivity & maximize their output. As Small Commercial Vehicle are an integral part of today’s transport industry we see a lot of new advancements coming to the segment to ensure better fuel economy. These SCV are responsible for goods delivery within the city so the mileage becomes an important factor to choose.

Turbocharged Engines

As most of the small & pickup trucks run on diesel and diesel requires more air to burn properly, it becomes essential to ensure proper air supply at high speed and temperatures, so turbochargers are the best components to use as they suck more air to burn fuel properly.

Automatic Start-Stop
Industry for quite a long time was in a myth that switching engine on & off every time consumes more fuel. Now, the auto makers have busted the theory by providing auto start-stop button in vehicles to save some fuel while on short breaks.
Commercial vehicles are now coming equipped with this update that is helping them save a lot of fuel while stuck in a jam.

Direct Injection

Indirect injection of fuel in the combustion chamber has now been replaced with an effective manner called direct injection in which fuel is put in the chamber in a precise way. Through this technique fuel wastage is eliminated by pressurizing the fuel for better burning.

Saving fuel has always been one of the major concerns for the commercial vehicle industry & with these effective technologies we hope to achieve the desired results.

Meanwhile if you are looking to buy secondhand commercial vehicles at competitive price, than paying a visit to Shriram Automall will turn handy as the company offers widest range of secondhand commercial vehicles under one roof.

Readjustment of Petrol-Diesel Variants by OEMS

Since 2013-14, petrol variant passenger vehicles started to gain popularity over diesel variants. Petrol-run variants accounted for 56% of India's passenger vehicle sales in 2015-16. However, 42% petrol variant passenger vehicles were sold in 2012-13 against 58% diesel variant. In recent times, the trend has been much clear as the Supreme Court impose a ban on the sale of large diesel vehicles in the National Capital Region over pollutions concerns in late 2015. Consecutively, share of petrol variants jumped to 59% in March 2016. So, OEMs have started to make investment to readjust the pattern.

FY 2016-17 began with a positive note for all segments

Year 2015-16 which ended on a positive note for the automobile industry speculated the year 2016-17 to further increase the demand considering the factors like introduction of 7th Pay commission, price of petrol & diesel and lower rate of interest. Proving all the factors right the month of April witnessed good number of sales in all segments in spite of price hikes by automakers which has boosted the momentum.
All major OEMs posted a good number of sales growths in comparison to April 2015. Festive mood of people thanking the occasions of New Year (Gudi Padwa, Baisakhi, Vishu, Bihu, Ugadi and Cheti Chand) offers. Top passenger vehicle players like Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai Motor India and Mahindra & Mahindra – posted healthy sales figures to kick-start 2016-17 on a high note. Like the last fiscal, the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment continues to grow in double digits but importantly light used commercial vehicles have posted positive numbers, signaling overall growth in the sector.

The only negative factors which lead to decline in the sales of Diesel vehicle is the continuing diesel vehicle ban above 2000 cc in the National Capital Region because of which some major OEMs like Honda, Toyota, Mercedes etc. were not able to pull through the last year sales, however they are confident that this year will be a good one and all the arrears will be met with high number of sales.

Meanwhile the sales of used vehicles & equipment are also on a record high thanks to coming of organized players in the industry like Shriram Automall. The company offers widest range of used vehicles & equipment of all make and models under one roof to choose from at competitive price.

SIAM comes in support of Diesel Vehicle Manufacturers

As per a recent statement by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) which came in support of diesel vehicle manufacturers said that ‘such restrictions is not going to achieve the desired objective to reduce pollution in the city & will only cause problem to OEMs and dealers’

The department of heavy industries on Friday pleaded to the Supreme Court to allow vehicles confirming existing emission norms to ply on Indian Roads. It also said that since the launch of PMs ‘Make in India’ campaign it has witnessed a steep increase of over 8% & has received investment of a whopping $5.094 billion in this sector. The ban if continues will have adverse effect on the ongoing momentum of the industry as it contributes to more than 47% of the manufacturing GDP of the country.

The ministry also suggested some of the corrective measures that it will take to ensure less omission of pollution by diesel vehicles like Pollution under check certificates issued to vehicles will be strictly regulated, measures to improve air quality, tolls on vehicles entering Delhi unnecessarily etc.

Meanwhile SIAM also said that due to uncertainty arising out of the ban on diesel cars and SUVs of 2,000 cc and above engines, many MNCs have decided to freeze further investments in India until complete clarity is achieved on key policy issues.

It is today when the Supreme Court decided whether to wave off the decision to continue with the same.

However to avoid this tussle in an efficient manner you can visit Shriram Automall and sell your used diesel vehicle easily, the company offers most transparent platform with the highest database of customers who are willing to buy used vehicles at an attractive price.
