Year 2015-16 which ended on a
positive note for the automobile industry speculated the year 2016-17 to
further increase the demand considering the factors like introduction of 7th
Pay commission, price of petrol & diesel and lower rate of interest.
Proving all the factors right the month of April witnessed good number of sales
in all segments in spite of price hikes by automakers which has boosted the
momentum.
All major OEMs posted a good number of
sales growths in comparison to April 2015. Festive mood of people thanking the
occasions of New Year (Gudi Padwa, Baisakhi, Vishu, Bihu, Ugadi and Cheti
Chand) offers. Top passenger vehicle players like Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai
Motor India and Mahindra & Mahindra – posted healthy sales figures to
kick-start 2016-17 on a high note. Like the last fiscal, the medium and heavy
commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment continues to grow in double digits but
importantly light used commercial vehicles have posted positive numbers,
signaling overall growth in the sector.
The only negative factors which
lead to decline in the sales of Diesel vehicle is the continuing diesel vehicle
ban above 2000 cc in the National Capital Region because of which some major
OEMs like Honda, Toyota, Mercedes etc. were not able to pull through the last
year sales, however they are confident that this year will be a good one and
all the arrears will be met with high number of sales.
Meanwhile the sales of used
vehicles & equipment are also on a record high thanks to coming of
organized players in the industry like Shriram Automall. The company offers
widest range of used vehicles & equipment of all make and models under one
roof to choose from at competitive price.
