More than two-dozen electric vehicles to be showcased at Auto-Expo 2018

The Asia's biggest motor show - Auto Expo 2018 is coming in Greater Noida from 9th - 14th February'2018, and along its bringing almost 24 electric vehicles from various auto manufacturing companies. The electric vehicles from various segments including bikes, scooters, cars, sports cars, sports utility vehicle, buses and mini trucks will be displayed at the event.

At first, the Delhi Auto Expo used to be all about small, affordable cars targeted at first-time buyers. Then, as customer preferences changed, India’s only automobile show started featuring big, bulky sports utility vehicles (SUVs) aimed at an upwardly mobile, aspirational class.

Now with changing trend it is set to change again. The 2018 Auto Expo next month will see a marked shift towards electric cars and vehicles that run on other eco-friendly technologies. The launch of these vehicles at the show will also give a glimpse to the road-map of the auto industry in coming years in India.

Automakers are shifting their medium- and long-term focus away from diesel and petrol engines as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government pushes for an all-electric fleet of vehicles on the country’s roads by 2030.

India’s largest service provider for exchange of used vehicles & equipment, Shriram Automall India Limited will also be coming at the show. For the 3rd time company is coming to this major event. From previous 2 years, SAMIL's stall has been the most talked about innovation at the Auto-expo. This year with the same zeal company is looking forward to showcase its platforms and allied services at Hall No.4, Stall No. E32E.Company is planning to zoom in the Dummy Biding Events at the show.

So, you better mark the dates, as you really don’t want to miss out on the Asia's largest motor show.

ISRO Soon To Power Indian Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicle dream for the India automotive market is the latest buzzword among the manufacturers, though with the deadline of 2030 being cancelled has brought the sigh of relief among the manufacturers. As now they can focus on making automotives compliant with BS-VI.

Deadline for the electric vehicles might have been removed, but the dream and the working on the project is still intact. Now dreams seems not so farfetched as our government has asked Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to allow interested players including from private sector to obtain the technology for mass production of Lithium-Ion batteries for electric vehicles.

The lithium-ion battery technology ISRO developed was originally meant for space applications, but it has finally agreed to transfer them at a cost to interested companies in order to promote mass production of e-vehicles in India.

The glitch is that battery manufacturers will need to pay 10 million to ISRO as a one-time technology transfer fee. Thereby some experts are of the view that the electric vehicle technology is still in the development stage and the cost is substantially higher. Besides, the ecosystem for e-vehicles is not yet ready, charging stations are not in place, the cost of the battery itself is high.

Another concern is the flammability of the lithium-ion battery. In view of weather conditions, this is a technological challenge and cooling the battery will raise operational costs. Thereby electric vehicles, in view of their cost, will justify deployment only as public transport buses, taxis and three-wheelers. Hence ISRO and Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) have tied up to help develop low-cost lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.

The cabinet secretary has asked ISRO to create a framework for enabling even interested private players to obtain the technology for mass production.

With all the steps government and manufacturers are taking its not far, when you will be driving a fully electric automotive in India. But till that day comes, play your part in making India pollution free, by acquiring BS-IV compliant used vehicles from Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL).

Motor vehicles including, automobiles was first introduced in India at the end of 19th century. And to regulate their use 1914 Act was the first to be codified which had 18 sections under it. Later, Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 was introduced which regulated all aspects of road transport vehicles including both transport and non-transport vehicles. The Act provides details of legislative provisions regarding licensing of drivers/conductors, registration of motor vehicles, control of motor vehicles through permits, special provisions relating to state transport undertakings, traffic regulation, insurance, liability, offences and penalties, etc.

To exercise the above legislative provisions Government of India created Central Motor Vehicle Rules in 1989 and made sure that all the rules under the Act are enforced. With evolving times, government of India keeps updating these rules to provide on-road safety to the citizens of the country.

Premium Cars Witnessing Growth, Driven By First Time Buyers!

Automotive sector is one of the major Indian sectors which face increase in demand from year to year.  Premium being the new affordable cool is now expanding its wings in the industry as well, credit of which goes to the first time buyers.

As now, first-time car buyers in the country (India) are moving beyond entry level vehicles, choosing more premium options instead, showcasing upward consumer mobility that’s driving sales of feature-rich and pricier models.

While only one out of three first-time buyers used to purchase premium models five years ago, now one of two such buyers goes for these models, indicating the manufacturer’s ability to attract more customers to its premium models.

In the last three years number of first-time buyers for Maruti Suzuki Dzire has increased to 46% from 28%. Similarly, those for the Hyundai Xcent have risen to 55% against 40%. Even for the newly launched Hyundai Verna, priced at Rs 8lakh, the number of first-time buyers has almost doubled to 35%, as compared with 18% recorded for the earlier edition of the vehicle.

At Tata Motors, where executives were used to serving customers about 38-40 years only, witnessed first time buyers positioning the Zest above the Indigo. Majorly below-30 buyers accounted for more than a fifth of the car’s sales.

India is a young economy, with high disposable incomes, this uptick sales record driven by first time buyers shows that customers want their first vehicle to be feature-rich,

Affordability is also one of the reasons pushing sales of premium cars among young consumers and first time buyers, as household income of families buying (the third-generation) Dzire has jumped 22% (to Rs 78,000 from Rs 59,000) a month. Similar trend was witnessed at Hyundai, where the average income of the Verna buyer has increased by 40% to `7-10lakh. At Tata Motors, the average income of buyers has doubled in the last few years.

Hence, it can be said that factors such as vehicle prices and fuel efficiency are no longer primary determinants of purchasing decisions. Rather vehicle style/looks, followed by brand image, features, mileage has emerged as the primary consideration among consumers who opt for the premium car versions.

Driven by desire, consumers willing to acquire a premium car or a luxury one without hampering their pockets have showcased their keen interest in the used premium/luxury cars.

Shriram Automall India Limited(SAMIL), No.1 trusted service provider of used vehicles and equipment in India, has made it their job to be sure to fulfill all the used vehicle demands of the Indian Automotive market. In their huge Automalls, you can find used vehicles and

GST, Loan Waiver, and Good Monsoon Led To Fast Auto Sales in Low-Income States

Low per capita income states such as Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, have witnessed automobile volume growth in the current fiscal, credit of which goes to the equalizing effect of GST, rising female literacy and people having more money to spend in rural areas.

The per-capita income of the six states ranges from $990 to $1,600 compared with India’s average of $1,800 thereby they account for a third of the country’s GDP. In various categories in the first half of the current fiscal, these six states outperformed industry growth by 7-15%. The states account for nearly 23-45% of total sales volume depending upon the vehicle category.

Monsoon along with GST helped the demand for automotives boost, as having a good monsoon season in rural areas create a positive effect in consumer sentiment towards the ownership of vehicles. Also, prior to GST, producing states had a tax advantage of 3-5 percentage points.

After remaining flat year-on-year in the six months to September 2016, real rural wages grew 3.3% in the second half of the last fiscal. It improved by 4.6% in April-September 2017, the fastest pace in four years. The number of schemes covered under DBT has increased from 59 in FY16 to 140 in FY17. It has further gone up to 393 in FY18 so far. Further in addition to this, government targets to cover all 534 schemes under DBT by March 2018.

In some areas especially West Bengal, rising female literacy is said to be a driving force as more girls and women take to scooters for mobility resulting in the growth of automotive demand in the area.

With increase in new automotive sales in the area, used vehicles and equipment also witnessed the boost. Shriram Automall India Limited (SAMIL) being the No.1 used vehicle andequipment provider, while anticipating the consumer demand in and nearby these areas, provided them with the best in class used vehicles and equipment of every make and model.
