FARM & CONSTRUCTION VEHICLES ALLOWED IN INDIA WITH BS-III EMISSION NORMS

We all are aware of the switch to the stronger emission norms i.e. from Bharat Stage III to IV, which has turned out to be quite an inflection point in the automotive industry.

Bharat stage emission standards (BSES) are emission standards established by the Indian government to limit air pollutants coming out of internal combustion engines and Spark-ignition engines equipment, including motor vehicles.

To control the pollution in the country, government ordered to ban the registration and sale of BS III Complaint Vehicles in the country. Decision was made mandatory from 1st April’2017, keeping in mind the current impact of pollution on the county.

Auto manufacturers faced big losses due to this ban as huge number of BS-III Stock piled up with them. As a result huge discounts and offer from automakers were offered to shell out their inventory and move to the less polluting vehicles.

Converting vehicles with BS IV Emission Norms from BS III Emission Norms is turning out to be a difficult job, especially for FARM & CONSTRUCTIONVEHICLES though Bharat Tractor Emission Norms (TREM-IIIA) and Construction Equipment Vehicles (CEV) norms apply to them.

These two vehicle segments were ruled out from the mandatory BS III ban as equipment used for farming like Tractors, harvesters and construction equipment vehicles have different emission norms and they need not follow the guidelines given to two-wheelers and commercial vehicles.

Due to the miss conception in many states of the country like Delhi, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. This has resulted in new construction equipment vehicles not being registered, but now its official that ban is not for farm & construction vehicles.
