India To Run On Ethanol Fuelled Vehicles Now

As the pollution level in the National capital & all over the country has reached to a dangerous level; the government is in a rush to implement policies that are intended towards curbing the rising air pollution. At first is the new Odd Even scheme proposed by the Delhi government that will stop the running of odd vehicles on one day & even on the other, this scheme has been opted from the successful run of similar scheme in Beijing this year. The second is ban on registration of diesel vehicles in the Delhi & NCR region by the supreme court of India.

Now to curb pollution the ministry will next month announce a policy that will allow automakers to manufacture flexible-fuel vehicles in the country.

Transport minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari at the annual general meeting of the Indian Sugar Mills Association said "We are working on a policy on flexi-fuel vehicles. As per the policy, these vehicles can run entirely on ethanol, but they have option for petrol as well. I will make this announcement before January 26,"

According to the sources, countries like US and Brazil are already running their vehicles on Ethanol. So, there is no need to conduct a major research on the same. This new policy will not only help cut crude oil import but also address the problem of pollution as Ethanol fuel emits over 80% carbon dioxide.

To kick start this new initiative the ministry has asked Germany’s biggest car maker Volkawagen to produce flexi-fuel vehicles.

Director General of ISMA, Abinash Verma said, "This is the future... The ethanol producing industry will react once there is demand."

As the government is all set to announce a policy relating Ethanol; the Auto industry will respond as its not a problem for them to produce flexi-fuel vehicles for India. The demand & infrastructure to supply 100% ethanol for blending with petrol is required.

With these new & innovative policies coming in we are sure that the country will soon witness reduced Air pollution, making the air clean. Meanwhile if you are looking ahead to contribute your share to reduce pollution you can rush to Shriram Automall to exchange your petrol or diesel vehicle with used cars with CNG, you will find wide range of used car that runs of CNG at fair price.
