The Automotive Industry in India produced 26,202,671 vehicles, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers, two-wheelers and quadricycle in April-February 2018, against 23,078,120 in April-February 2017, enrolling a development of 14.41% over a similar period a year ago.
Passenger Vehicles sales during
the period of April-February 2018 grew by 8.04% over a similar period a year ago.
Inside the passenger vehicles, passenger cars, utility vehicles and vans grew
by 3.62%, 21.34%, and 4.25% respectively.
Commercial Vehicles segment
enrolled a growth of 19.30% in April-February 2018, as compared with a similar
period a year ago.
Medium and Heavy Commercial
Vehicles (M&HCVs) grew by 11.91% and Light Commercial Vehicles grew by
24.64% amid April-February 2018 over a similar period a year ago.
Three Wheelers sales witnessed
growth of 19.11% in April-February 2018 over a similar period a year ago.
Traveler Carrier sales registered a growth of 22.36% and Goods Carrier sales
grew by 6.80% in April-February 2018 over April-February 2017.
Two-wheeler segment witnessed
sales growth of 14.47% in April-February 2018 over a similar period a year ago.
Inside the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters and Motorcycles developed by 21.18%
and 12.66% respectively, while demand for Mopeds declined by (- ) 4.83% in
April-February 2018 over April-February 2017.
In April-February 2018, overall
automotive trade expanded by 15.81%. Two and three wheelers segments witnessed
the growth of 20.30% and 37.02% separately, while Passenger and Commercial
vehicles declined by (- ) 1.80% and (- ) 13.26% individually in April-February
2018 over a similar period a year ago.
