during December 2017, the Indian automotive industry beats the low base effect
prevailing during the months of November and December 2016. As December results
of automotive companies flow in, most of the vehicle segments have shown the
post robust double-digit growth.
The auto sector also benefited
from the year-end discounts and the sales hike due to vehicle manufacturers announcing
increase in price ranging between 2-5%, kick-starting from January 2018.

CVs witnessed a healthy double-digit growth during December. While new model launches have kept the consumers’ interest up, infrastructure development and road building activities have boosted the CV sector.

The passenger vehicle industry
was marked by a mixed fortune. While some carmakers experienced a robust
double-digit growth, others grew in single-digit.

MotoCorp crossed the landmark of 7 million units in cumulative sales in a
calendar year.
Three-wheelers
The three-wheeler segment of TVS
Motor Company grew by 72.1 per cent, rising from 5,393 units in December 2016
to 9,279 units in December 2017.
