We understand that, after making the decision
of buying a used tractor or any other vehicle, it can be hard for customers to
know what to look for while inspecting the vehicle even if they know well what
they want from their desired vehicle.
So, here we have bought the
essential points to keep in mind while inspecting the used tractor. So, that
you could successfully buy the perfect used tractor according to your demand
at optimal prices.
Let’s Go! First thing Firsts While Inspecting
the Used Tractor:
- Body, tires and overall appearance
Look for the Peeling paint, dents or even weathered, cracked or bulging tires while inspecting the used tractor, as it represents how well a tractor has been maintained by the previous owner. If it looks well-maintained from the outside then it usually has been well-maintained.
But yet before making the final decision look for the tire gauge to measure the tread depth left on the tires, to get a good idea of how much life is left in the tires.
- Steering
To check the different locks, take the steering wheel and put some force while moving it back and forth.
- Hydraulic Power (look for leaks)
While inspecting hydraulics look for leaks as, streaks of oil across tires and hubs may mean a defective shaft seal.
- Engine
For inspecting the engine perfectly, start the tractor, lift the engine hood and look if there are any leaks in engine, hoses or hydraulics. Also check for coolant, fuel lines and worn hydraulic. You can check the engine's ventilation by closing the end of the pipe with a piece of paper or your palm to collect any oil that blows out.
- Oil
Take out the dip stick as it will show the timely fills, Dark black or a burnt smell suggests oil was not changed at the proper intervals. A gray tinge or tiny water bubbles on the dipstick suggest that water has mixed with the oil; you can also find that oil has gotten in the oil pan, when oil spits more than usual and rings are bad.
- Battery
Check the battery and low water level, green deposits on poles or dirt. If cables are damaged and lights are poorly adjusted, you can figure out that tractor was treated rough.
- Swivel pin and hitches
At the pivot point, check for the 4-wd swivel pin, this will tell you about if there is any wear there. Also look closely at the hitch hole, a long hole means tractors has worked long hours continuously. These hitch holes can be replaced and repaired.
With these points in mind you are all good to go on your
way to buy your desired used tractor.
