If the latest proposal of North Delhi Municipal Corporation NDMC is to be implemented then a shinny news car will make a big hole in your pocket. It was nearly five years before when MCD made a failed bid to double the cost of parking charges which is paid by the buyer of any non commercial vehicle at the time of registering it has been given the green signal by the standing committee of North Corporation on Wednesday.

Buyers will have to pay between 2-15% of the cost of vehicle under different categories. Luxury car enthusiasts will have to pay several lakhs to own a new vehicle costing Rs. 40 Lakh & above. Even the small cars costing less than 4 lakhs will have to pay Rs. 8000, fourfold of what they are paying now.
As per the officials this amendment is required as there is a strong need to fight the ongoing financial crunches & to decongest the public space. If the House of the corporation passes it, then it will go to Delhi government for notification. The other two corporations - East and South --are yet to table this proposal.
"If implemented, this proposal will help construct modern parking facilities from the revenue so that public places can be decongested," said Mohan Bharadwaj, standing committee chairman of North Corporation. In Delhi there are huge numbers of families owning 4-5 cars & this proposal once implemented there is a possibility that they will restrict to a fewer number.
If this proposal is passed by all corporations & Delhi government than people will have to spend big bucks on acquiring new vehicles & there is a huge possibility that more people will opt for used cars. This situation will definitely give a big boost to players like Shriram Automall who offers the most extensive range of used cars at affordable prices.
