The Delhi Auto Expo will come up with a lot of surprises for the petrol-heads & auto enthusiasts with the launch of next generation cars, bikes & other vehicles and display of future technology vehicle that will gather the shows mass attention. One of those surprises would be the launch of BMW-TVS K03 street fighter both the BMW & TVS versions will follow a similar product strategy as with the KTM Duke 200 and Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS.
TVS will sell the KO3 through its regular TVS dealerships while the BMW model will be retailed through BMW Motorrad showrooms whose presence will be expanded next year. As per an official confirmation by the company both bikes will share the same platform & engine. The bike will be powered by a 300cc single cylinder engine (or an 310cc unit, as the name suggests) that is liquid cooled and tuned to deliver power in the area of 35PS. BMW and TVS have developed an all new back to front motor for this particular motorcycle that aims at providing better overall weight distribution, in turn helping the handling characteristics.
To give you more information about the tie-up, TVS & BMW formed an alliance to manufacture affordable sportbikes for emerging markets like India, Brazil etc. however the company has not given any clarity on the launch of its first bike in India. BMW CEO, Stephan Schaller had confirmed that the first TVS BMW bike in India will feature a sub-500cc, single-cylinder engine that will be exclusively engineered by BMW. Whereas, TVS will supply the expertise for manufacturing the bike with top-quality at cost effective prices.
